Mozilla’s Boot to Gecko

February လက စပိန္ ႏိုင္ငံ ဘာဆီလိုနာ မွာၿပဳ လုပ္တဲ့Mobile World Congress မွာ Mozilla က Boot to Gecko အေၾကာင္းကို စတင္ မိတ္ဆက္ခဲ့ပါတယ္။

What is Boot to Gecko?
Boot to Gecko ဆိုတာ is the development of a “complete, standalone operating system for the open Web.” သူ႕ရဲ႕ ပထမဆံုးေၿခလွမ္းကေတာ့ 2011 july မွာ စတင္ေၾကၿငာခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ယေန႔ေခတ္စားလွတဲ့ မိုဘိုင္း OS ေတြၿဖစ္တဲ့ Apple’s IOs တို႕ Google’s
Android တို႕ နဲ႔ အၿပိဳင္ မုိဘိုင္း browser ေတြရဲ႕ နံပါတ္တစ္ Mozilla Firefox ရဲ႕ အနာဂတ္ ၀ဘ္ေလာကရဲဲ႕ ေၿခလွမ္းသစ္တရပ္ၿဖစ္ပါတယ္။ B2G ကို Mozilla Firefox ရဲ႕ developers ေတြက စတင္ခဲ့တဲ့ေၿခလွမ္းလည္းၿဖစ္ပါတယ္။ လက္ရွိမွာေတာ့ Samsung Galaxy S2 မွာ စမ္းသပ္ၿပသခဲ့ပါတယ္။ B2G ဟာ Web developer,application developers ေတြအတြက္ အလုပ္အကိုင္ နည္းပညာ အခြင့္အလမ္း အသစ္တရပ္လည္း ၿဖစ္လာအံုးမွာပါ။ ေနာက္ထပ္ သတင္းေကာင္း တခုကေတာ့ B2G ဟာ Iphone ထက္ ဆယ္ဆေစ်းသက္သာပါတယ္။ B2G ရဲ႕အရွိန္အဟုန္လာ အင္မတန္လွ်င္ၿမန္လာပါတယ္ ဘာလို႕လဲဆိုေတာ့ သူက Open source ၿဖစ္တာေၾကာင့္ စိတ္၀င္စားတဲ့သူတိုင္း GitHub ေပၚကေန စမ္းသပ္ အသံုးၿပဳလာၾကလို႕ပါပဲ။ B2G ဟာ Mozilla ရဲ႕ Platform မဟုတ္ပါဘူး ၿပီးေတာ့ Web ကလည္း ထူးၿပီးေတာ့ Platform အသစ္မဟုတ္ေတာ့ပါဘူး web ေပၚမွာ အရမ္းကို strong/powerful ၿဖစ္တဲ့ apps ေတြက ေနရာယူၿပီးသားလည္းၿဖစ္ေနပါၿပီ ဒါေပမဲ့ ခင္ဗ်ားတို႕ web ေပၚမွာ မလုပ္ႏိုင္တာေလးေတြေတာ့ ရွိေသးတယ္ ဒါေတြကေတာ့ text message ပို႕တာ ၊ ဖုန္းေခၚတာ မ်ိဳးေလေတြေပါ့ ။ အဲဒါေတြကို က်ေတာ္တို႕က API ေဆာက္လိုက္တယ္ ။ ကဲ ခုေတာ့ web ေပၚ မလုပ္ႏိုင္တာ မရွိေတာ့ေလာက္ေအာင္ေပါ့ လို႕ Johnathan Nightingale, Firefox ရဲ႕ senior director of Firfox engineer က PCMag ရဲ႕ အင္တာဗ်ဴးမွာေၿပာၾကားခဲ့ပါတယ္။

What is it aims?

B2G ရဲ႕ ရည္ရြယ္ခ်က္ကေတာ့ Mozilla ရဲ႕ Opensource မုိဘုိင္း OSအၿဖစ္ မိုဘိုင္း devices ေတြမွာ အသံုးၿပဳႏိုင္ေအာင္ရည္ရြယ္ပါတယ္။
ၿပီးေတာ့ သူက Open Web Devices platform ေတြရဲ႕ Framework တခုအၿဖစ္ ရည္ရြယ္ပါေသးတယ္။

တဆက္ထဲမွာပဲ Johnathan က ခင္ဗ်ားမွာ Android phone ရွိၿပီး ခင္ဗ်ားစိတ္ၾကိဳက္၀ယ္ထားတဲ့ apps ေတြဟာ ခင္ဗ်ားရဲ႕ Ipad2 ေပၚမွာ အလုပ္မလုပ္ႏိုင္ပါဘူး။ဒီေတာ့ ခင္ဗ်ားေနာက္ထပ္ ထပ္၀ယ္ဖို႕လိုလာပါလိမ့္အံုးမယ္။ အကယ္၍မ်ား အဲဒီ apps ေတြဟာ HTML5 based apps ေတြၿဖစ္ခဲ့ရင္ေတာ့ ခင္ဗ်ားရဲ႕ Iphone,android ေတြေပၚမွာ အလုပ္လုပ္ႏိုင္ပါတယ္။ ဒါကေတာ့ က်ေတာ္တို႕ရဲ႕ B2G ရဲ႕ ရည္ရြယ္ခ်က္ပါ က်ေတာ္တို႕ က အလယ္မွာ ခံေနတဲ့ ၾကားခံတခုကိုေဖ်ာက္ၿပီး web ဟာ phone ေပၚမွာ အကုန္လုပ္ႏိုင္ေအာင္ရည္ရြယ္ထားပါတယ္။

Hacks Mozilla ရဲ႕ ဘေလာ့မွာ B2G aim ကို ဒီလုိေၿပာၾကားထားပါတယ္။ It aims at making web technologies the number one choice for applications on desktop and mobile, and we believe it can displace proprietary, single-vendor stacks for application development.
